All the time that I have been in business, I have continued to
pursue my interest in fine arts photography. My work has been exhibited
in numerous group and solo shows in galleries throughout New England.

One Day in Boston.
I was selected to be part of “One Day in Boston”. The Mayor’s Office of Arts, Tourism & Special Events is capturing the essence and spirit of Boston through the eyes of a group of Boston photographers. The photographers shot all over the city on April 18th, 2011, Patriot’s Day. Twenty-five photographs are displayed in the Mayor’s Gallery; the remaining photographs adorn the hallways on the 2nd and 8th floors of Boston City Hall. The exhibition takes place May 23 – June 30, 2011.
I photographed at one of my favorite locations, Boston Boxing & Fitness. The three portraits I shot that day are here.

Boston Boxing & Fitness
I purchased my condominium in Allston just over 20 years and I can't imagine living in any other part of Boston. Allston has a wonderfully diverse population and a remarkable selection of businesses that support its residents.
I selected a neighborhood boxing gym called Boston Boxing & Fitness as the location of this series. It epitomizes a number of the qualities I think make Allston a unique place to live. It is a non-assuming, local gym where men, women, and young athletes of all abilities come to workout. It is definitely not a dating bar health club.
The first time I visited the gym, I watched an instructor coaching a young boxer. Knowing how hard a boxing workout is, I realize that this is a place that pushes young athletes beyond what they think they are capable of. Boston Boxing & Fitness is home to many local high school and college athletes who pour their hearts out on the field...but as they say on their website, their sweat and tears belong to us!"

A new way of working
When I grew up there was no such thing as ADD. If you couldn?t concentrate you were put in special classes. Believe me, there was nothing special about them.
Painting, photographing and later graphic design became my refuge. It gave me a voice and allowed me to enjoy a successful career as an advertising creative director. My tools were photographs, illustrations and the printed word, and I was responsible for hundreds of television commercials, thousands of print ads and countless corporate design projects.
After 30 years of using my tools to sell products, I decided to bring them into my fine art work. Everything I find visually interesting, I rip apart and paste back together in (I hope) an unexpected way. My collages, as the Eagles lyric goes are "everything, all the time."

Two photographs from a recent photoshoot of my very well tattooed friend Troy. You can see my photos here. You can see more of Troy on his modeling page here.

Head of the Charles Regatta
Last year the temperature was seasonably cold on the Sunday of the Head of the Charles Regatta weekend. The wind kicked up occasionally and it felt much colder. I do not suffer the cold very well. I never have. At my age, I know I never will. But the thought of photographing his very, very special event got me off my ass and on the B Line to the Boston University West stop.
I also have less and less patience for the mass of photographers that seem to intentionally violate my personal shooting space. Enough said. Here are a couple of my photos from last year’s event.
